Chemical Equilibrium

Chemical Equilibrium

This is considered as a very important topic as it gives us the idea about how a reaction happens.

Electrolyte

This term is referred to all the ions in aqueous form present in a solvent. Like H+ in water is one such example.

Ostwald's Dillusion Law

It explains the processes that undergo during the ions dissociation.
Let us study it by a case:-
Consider you have 1 mole of CH3COOH sloution and 1 liter of pure water. If you add Acid in water what will happen? You may think that the acid will complete mix with the water and Concentration of 1 Molar Acid with will form but it doesn't happen. The acid disassociates but not so much that entire acid will mix. But if we take HCl the case will be as the above on explained. Then why is it so?
Here comes the concept of Reaction Constant or Equilibrium Constant represented as (K).

Equilibrium Constant

Consider the above reaction:-
Now let us see what happens inside the water.
CH3COOH=>CH3COO^- + H^+
The acid into its constituent ions due to the H+ and OH- ion in water.
Anionic Part is also called as the Conjugate Base for Acid. Therefore if the acid is weak then it's conjugated Base will be strong electrolyte. There for Acetate ion will be a strong base then it disccociate water further so the next above reaction is like this:--

The term K is written as Ka so that it is understood that it represents Equilibrium Constant for weak acid.

Simple Harmonic Motion

SHM is a kind of periodic motion. We can say that all SHM's are periodic but all periodic motion are not SHM.  Conditions for SHM: The acceleration of the body or the particle should be proportional to the negative of displacement. The total Mechanical Energy of the system remains conserved. There must be a state of stable equilibrium. Equation of SHM Consider a particle revolving around a circular path of radius ''a''. with a constant angular velocity  ω. Let at time t=0, the particle is at the position A then the projection of the particle will be at the point B on the y-axis. So when the particle comes at the top the projection also comes at the top. Hence we can see that the particle is doing periodic motion but the projection is doing SHM. Hence the time period of the SHM is same as the time period of the circular particle. The derivation of the actual equation of the SHM is a bit complex and it is difficult for me to show it here so...

Semiconductors and Communication System

This chapter can be divided into following categories:- Classification Types of Semi-Conductors p-n junction diode Biasing of Diode Rectifiers Special Diodes (Zener, Photodiode, LED and Solar Cell) Transistors Logic Gates Communication System In the next few posts I will be posting in the same manner ie. (in bullets form) for your convenience and I hope that helps you in completing your syllabus. Classification Materials can be classified on the basis of conductivity as Conductors, Insulators and Semi Conductors. The basic difference among all the three is the difference of energy in between the Conducting and the Valence band. This can be seen here. Note- The range of conductivity should be kept in mind. For Semi-Conductors the energy difference is not very large but not even very less. So by providing proper conditions they can show conductivity. Types of Semi-Conductors Further we can say that there are two other types of semi con...
